1st October celebrates the Danish music scene P2 with a big party in the Concert Hall. Pianist Marianna Shirinyan receive as the first DR's new classic artist price: "The P2 Talent Award".

Marianna Shirinyan

Marianna Shirinyan get P2 price for her passionate musicianship and high professional level which she has provided the Danish music scene new dimensions. The winner acknowledges, among other things to play Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major with the Denmark Radio Sinfonietta.

Now the Armenian-born pianist is living in Denmark. She has, among other things, studied in Germany and in 2003 she became a member of Esbjerg Ensemble and settled in Denmark. She has played both as a soloist, as a chamber musician with orchestra.

She has won a myriad of prices - only at the German Radio ARD soloist competition in Munich in 2006 she won five prizes! Most recently, she received the Music Critics artist price at a concert in Tivoli in August last year.

In January she published - along with cellist Andreas Brantelid and violinist Vilde Frang - the first chamber music CD of Chopin. The Chopin’s bicentenary year can hardly fail to be weighted in favour of his solo piano music, since that is the area to which he devoted the bulk of his creative attention.

Here this is a fragment where Marianna Shirinyan playing Mansurian.

Mansurian's musical style is characterized mainly by the organic synthesis of ancient Armenian musical traditions and contemporary European composition methods. His oeuvre comprises orchestral works, seven concerti for strings and orchestra, sonatas for cello and piano, three string quartets, madrigals, chamber music and works for solo instruments.

The Radio P2 Denmark presents a fragment with the plays of Marianna Shirinyan. Here is the link to the play of Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Paganini Theme with the Denmark Radio Orchestra.

We can listen the prize award concert LIVE by Radio P2 Denmark: 1st October 18:30 UTC+0
