Proms 51 on Radio ABC Classic FM

Eight years before he began his First Symphony in 1841, Schumann began an earlier one.
Thomas Dausgaard – who has recorded a complete Schumann cycle with his agile Swedish Chamber Orchestra – opens with its sprightly first movement and ends our Schumann bicentenary symphony cycle with the biggest and most stirring of the set.

Swedish soprano Nina Stemme sings Berlioz's tender songs of love sought, found and lost, and her compatriot Albert Schnelzer pays tribute both to Haydn's playful character and to film director Tim Burton, born in the Californian city of Burbank.

Festival Early Music in Utrecht - LIVE by Radio France Musique

Since 1981 the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht, The Netherlands, attracts thousands of visitors from home and abroad. Tomorrow 31. August we have the repeating of BBC Proms 2010: Julia Fischer and Vladimir Jurowski with LPO!




Two years ago Julia Fischer was a triumphant with other famous London Proms.
This year the Munich Violinistin returns in the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate a Russian night with London Philharmonic Orchestra under Vladimir Jurowski.
In the center Schostakowitschs opus 77, one of the most demanding violin concerts stand generally, and Prokofjews seldom the third symphony to be heard.
However, Mussorgskijs dynamic witch's dance sounds in the more known equipment of Rimskij-Korsakow, and with the "Rêverie" of Skrjabin reverence is proved – the Moscow composer stands this year in the focus of this festival.

This is Alexander Scriabin's Rêverie for orchestra. It is performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra with Igor Golovschin. Paintings are by Vladimir Kush:

Shostakovich's 1st Cello Concerto - one of the most popular works in the cello repertoire but also one of the most difficult - is performed by young American cellist Alisa Weilerstein and the concert ends with Bruckner's 4th Symphony, labelled 'Romantic' by the composer and inspired by tales of medieval romance.
