BBC Proms 2010 goes on, LIVE from Albert Hall, London!
Tonight: Proms 58 on online radio BBC Radio 3!!!!
Lars Vogt, piano
Czech Philhamonic Orchestra / Sir John Eliot Gardiner
Sir John Eliot Gardiner and the visiting Czech Philharmonic Orchestra frame their programme with Dvorak's ebullient, life-affirming Carnival Overture and his radiant 8th Symphony. In between, Martinu's 6th Symphony dances with Czech and Moravian folk melodies and rhythms; there's a detour to the Norwegian fjords for Grieg's Piano Concerto with Lars Vogt; and back to the Moravian Janacek whose gentle Ballad of Blanik was inspired by recent Czech independence and the new nation's legendary guardians.
